In the past, the modification of students’ academic and social behaviors was agreed to be controlled by

external agents, including teachers, parents and etc。 Since the majority of teenagers are on the process of schooling, teachers are regarded as the responsibility-taker to control and alter their behaviors in the classroom。 However, once teachers spend more time and energy in administrating students’ behavior, no doubt the time available for them to perform the role of passing knowledge will definitely be limited。 Therefore,  self-control is necessarily needed among students themselves, especially in English learning, an active class with almost everyone involved。 Since there are three aspects of self-control, including self-observation, self-recording, self-planning and self-evaluation, training of each stage should be applied in students’ English learning (Maher & Michael, 1997)。文献综述

Self-observation, representing the procedure of monitoring themselves is considered to be one of the extremely essential sections of self-control。 Provided with observed descriptions of their behavior, teenagers are able to figure out whether their behavior changes or not。 Apart from self-observation, it has been found that self-recording is influential and efficient in changing teenagers’ behavior both in and out of classroom。 Different from self-observation, which aims to practice self-control ability by observing the phenomenon of one’s social and academic life, self-recording means when experiencing self-control training, someone should at first take some notes to record his personal situation, in order to give accessible suggestions for self-control training。

Self-planning is like a bridge, connecting the position where we are and the place we want to arrive, in other words, connecting our goals and actions。 The achievement of a goal can be nothing without a reasonable plan。 If you failed in self-planning, you are more likely to fail in the executive process。 Self-planning is the protective umbrella of actions even if we cannot assure what will happen in the future。 Once some emergency situations happen around us, it will easily be out of control without any plan of predictable needs, leading to great failure。 In the process of self-planning, there is a must to make some initial predictions, analyzing what will happen and what factors will change。 After predicting precisely, the action plan should be formulated, and you can handle it peacefully, in case some changes suddenly appear。
