A Review of Western Feminist Literary Criticism
Abstract: Western feminism, with an emphasis on women’s role and status in industries such as social, economic, cultural aspects and so on, has formed a unique theoretical system and been perfected by furthering its new ideas and absorbing social advanced ones since its existence. Based on various works of different writers from numbers of periods, the thesis expounds the evolvement of feminism and its characteristics, analyzes the emergence of feminist literary criticism and the object as well as the function and probes into the relations between feminist criticism of various schools, and its relationship with patriarchy. In consequence, the representatives, the genre and the characteristics of western feminism may be generally sorted out, which can serve as reference to any thinking on feminism in a profound way.

西方女性主义文论综述
前言
崛起于近代西方社会的女性主义，是一个充满争议的名词，这种争议不仅仅体现在每一种女性主义流派都有她们自己的理论，她们自己的关于女性主义理论和实践的理解和答案，更体现在这些理解和答案之间相互碰撞的地方。虽然各流派之间的争论短期内无法统一，但女性主义在不断发展完善中将继续曲折前行，因为在女性主义者看来，“女性主义，是为了每一个人的未来而存在。”[1]
那么，什么是女性主义呢？女性主义在发展，这个问题也无法用一句话来解释回答，现仅从以下几个方面试图说明：
从目标方面来说，女性主义让每一个女人都能有机会来展示和发展她的个人能力。
从形式方面来说，女性主义其实是一场运动，强调性别平等、强调在男女平等的基础上审视男女之间的关系。
从思想方面来说，女性主义认为各种各样的因素都是整体中的一部分，且各个部分之间和谐共存。
