功能翻译理论徐州的公示语汉英翻译
This paper focuses on improper C-E translation of public signs in Xuzhou from functional approach. The author collects many public signs in Xuzhou, especially those with translation problems, and classifies them by translation errors into linguistic problems, cultural problems and inconformity. Functional approach is applied into discussions of some samples. The functions of public signs, the principles of C-E translation of public signs and existing translation errors and some feasible suggestions on revision are analyzed and proposed. The writer of the thesis is hoped to provide some recommendations to the C-E translation of public signs so that the public signs could play their roles well with the joint efforts by relevant government authorities, translators and sign makers, thus to improve the publicity image of the Xuzhou City.26827

摘 要随着中国对外开放的深入，国际性公共场所已不局限于大城市的豪华场所，任何公共场所都有可能出现外国友人，正确、达意的双语公示语也越来越重要。因此，在制作双语公示语的过程中必然会涉及到汉英翻译问题。目前的公示语翻译质量并不尽如人意，问题比比皆是，大大地影响公示语作用的发挥，并且有损中国的国际形象。因此，规范、完善公示语的汉英问题是一项亟待解决的工作。
本文旨在以功能翻译理论为指导分析徐州地区的公示语汉英翻译所出现的问题。笔者收集并整理了徐州市区一些公共场所的公示语，尤其是出现翻译问题的公示语，按照翻译的不当之处进行分类。以功能翻译理论为指导，结合本文所举的例子，探讨公示语的功能，公示语英译的原则，公示语英译过程中出现的错误类型以及笔者的修改意见。笔者希望能够给徐州市公示语的汉英翻译提供一些建议，在有关政府部门以及译者、公示语制作者的共同努力下对公示语汉英翻译进行进一步规范和完善，从而提升徐州市的对外宣传形象。
