浅析颜色词”青”的翻译
Color is something that can not be replaced in our life. Every time, every place, we can find it in our life, no matter red, orange, yellow or others. It has its physics characteristics, cultural meanings and extended meanings. No matter Chinese or English, there are a lot of expressions related to colors. And with the long development of human society, there are more and more words to show the color. Color words not only express the color itself, but show the different cultural connotations. And here “Ching” as a special one, shows much more about that difference. It is widely acknowledged that even in Chinese, “Ching” has quiet a lot of meanings. In old days, “Ching” can be blue, green, black or even the color between blue and green. And nowadays, its meaning becomes much more different and it has no synonyms in English. So in order to make it clear in translation, people should first consider about the special time, space and culture context and assure the correct meaning of it in the text. And then people should change it from the old day’s meaning to nowadays’. And at last, people can do the serious translation.

1. Introduction
Color words are a great part of all languages. And because there are some common things existing in the come being of human material and cognitive style, Chinese and English share some similar color words, just like what professor Pan Hong did in her book culturally loaded words in English and Chinese that the comparison between the basic color words in Chinese like hei, lan, jinhuang, lv, hui, zi, hong, bai, huang and in English like black, blue, gold, green, gray, purple, red, white, yellow. But, “Ching” is an exception. In Chinese, “Ching” is an unique color words just because you can not find a similar English word to express it. Sometimes, it is expressed as greenish blue, sometimes dark blue, sometimes indigo. And even sometimes people use the Chinese phonetic alphabet “Ching” to express it. But, all of these can not correctly express the color meaning of “Ching”. Because when “Ching” refers to a kind of color, it actually has a lot of meanings. Besides, “Ching”, when it is followed by some words in Chinese, it has a lot of cultural meanings. So why we are understanding and translating it, we need to be careful enough. And if you make a small mistake in one of a small concept, it cause the whole misunderstanding and the wrong translation. And what’s worse, it will have some bad effects on the cross cultural communication between China and West. Thus, we need to do a serious discussion about Ching’s color meaning, cultural meaning and its translation work. And, following is my personal induction and summary to my daily accumulation about some words connected with “Ching” and its translation.
