摘要中国政府一年一度的政府工作报告是社会各界广泛关注的焦点，同时也是世界各国了解中国政府在民生领域执行政府职能的有效途径。因此，确保政府工作报告英译本的精准性和准确性显得尤为重要。本文采用定性分析和语料库的方法，以功能对等理论为视角从词汇层面对《 2015 年政府工作报告》英译本中的特色词汇进行分析，以证明中国特色词汇对政府工作报告译文的重要性，同时提出关于翻译政府工作报告准确和忠实的翻译原则，为进一步加强与深化同国际社会的交流与合作搭建桥梁，提供平台。50939

Abstract   The annual Government Work Report (GWR) is a social focus and an effective channel for international community to know the functions of the Chinese government in the field of people’s livelihood. Therefore, the veracity and accuracy of GWR in English becomes particularly important. Based on functional equivalence theory, this paper analyzes the translation of lexical items with Chinese characteristics in 2015 GWR with the qualitative analysis and language database method in order to prove the importance of the lexical items with Chinese characteristics for the GWR translation, to put forward the accuracy and faithfulness translating principles in translating GWR in future, and to build bridge for further deepening exchange and cooperation with the international community.

I. Introduction

With the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy and development of socialist modernization, China has played a significant role in the international community and its comprehensive national strength has been dramatically improved, because of which, its international standing is becoming increasingly higher. Under such a circumstance, China has become the focus of the world, which indicates that its impact on the international community is extremely significant. Therefore, China needs to know the rest of the world, and at the same time, the rest of the world is in great need of knowing the present situation and growth of China. There is an increasing number of countries begin to deepen its relationship with China both in economy and politic. However many conflicts and misunderstandings exist in the world. Other nations take the priority of the Government Work Report to know more about China’s latest national conditions and development prospects due to its authoritativeness, comprehensiveness, scientificity. Thus, the translation of the Government Work Report is crucial and ensuring the veracity and accuracy of GWR translation is becoming increasingly important.
