A Feminist Interpretation of Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway Abstract Among the sparkling galaxy of western writers of all time, Virginia Woolf is no wonder one of the most impressive star. Her most influential work, Mrs. Dalloway, depicting details a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway, a upper class woman in post–First World War England and three related female characters, received reputation worldwide. 51921

The thesis does not focus on Woolf’s noted and exquisite stream of consciousness technique; rather, it lays detailed interpretation of the female characters: Clarissa Dalloway (Mrs. Dalloway), Sally Seton, Lucrezia Warren Smith and Doris Kilman by analyzing the four figures and how Woolf’s feminism ideas are reflected in them. The character Mrs. Dalloway is undoubtedly the female protagonist, from whom incomplete feminism can be deduced. Further discussion on incomplete feminism is also provided in the thesis.

Regret for the Past, a short story written by the Chinese literary giant Lu Xun, in which the image of a tragic female intellectual Zi Jun is created. Zi Jun and Clarissa, two women living in the period of instability and uncertainty are similar in their pursuit for complete self, yearning for freedom and yielding to comfort are worth studying. The thesis is also expected to shed light upon it.

By analyzing and comparison, the aim of the thesis is to perfect the feminist interpretation of Mrs. Dalloway.

女性主义角度解读弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫的《达洛卫夫人》

摘要古往今来，西方作家的浩渺银河中，弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫无疑是最引人瞩目的星辰之一。《达洛卫夫人》是她最具影响力的小说，这本小说描绘了一个一战后上层阶级英国妇女克拉丽莎·达洛卫的一天，以及与她相关的三位女性人物。这部小说使伍尔夫享有了世界性的声誉。

本论文关注点并不是伍尔夫著名而精妙的意识流文学手法，而选择了以女性主义的视角和伍尔夫的女性主义思想从何处体现这两点来分析四个女性人物：克拉丽莎·达洛卫（达洛卫夫人），莎莉·塞顿，蕾西娅·蜗轮·史密斯以及朵丽丝·基尔曼。毫无疑问，达洛卫夫人是女主角，从她身上也反映出了不完整的女性主义。本论文也进行了更多关于不完全女性主义的探讨。

《伤逝》是中国文豪鲁迅先生所著的一篇关于爱情的短篇小说。在《伤逝》中，作者塑造了一个悲剧女知识分子子君的形象。子君与克拉丽莎·达洛卫都生活在动荡和无常的社会中，但她们对于自我的追求，自由的向往以及对安逸生活的屈服是相似的。本论文也会基于这点做分析。

本论文希望以比较和分析的方式，达成完善女性主义解读《达洛卫夫人》的目标。
