Abstract Since China reformed and opened to the outside world, the economic trade and activities have been increasingly frequent and commercial contract plays a more and more important role. The commercial contract becomes the effective guarantee and the driving force of the long-term, steady and fast economic growth. Because commercial contract is a kind of legal document, the demands for the translator is very high. Based on the skopos theory, this thesis argues the feasibility of the skopos rule to the translation of commercial contracts and applies coherence and fidelity rules into the commercial contract translation. On the basis of the skopos theory, three principles are proposed in the translation of commercial contract. These principles include the principle of accuracy and rigor, principle of specific and clearness, principle of completeness and expressiveness.  59169

摘要随着改革开放以来我国的国际经济贸易活动日益的频繁，商务合同越来越重要。商务合同是经济长期平稳较快发展的强大动力和有效保障。由于商务合同是法律文体的一种，对商务合同翻译的要求也就很高。本文从目的论出发，论述目的原则对商务合同翻译的适用性。同时将目的原则、忠实原则和连贯原则运用于商务合同翻译，并在此基础上提出商务合同翻译应遵循的三大原则，即准确严谨原则，具体清楚原则，完整通顺原则。

1. Introduction

After China reformed and open to the outside, in especial with the joining the WTO, the development of our economy has tended to be pluralistic and the foreign economy and trade act in close cooperation. Especially, the commercial contract leads an essential role in all international trades. The contract is a kind of formal document with the legal binding. The commercial contract is not only the text which has the force of law but also the tool aimed at safeguarding the rights and interests of both trade sides. Naturally, the commercial contract is an essential part in economic activities. Because the international trade is involved in different countries, the draft and translation of international commercial contract becomes an important part in business affairs. English of commercial contract is treated as a special language with some special effect. It includes the characteristics of both the business English and legal English, so it is required that the words used should be rigorous, special, exact and official. This should be taken seriously in the international commercial contract translation.
