一、绪论
（一）研究课题的重要性
当海难事故发生时，船上的人员可以借助救生艇迅速地脱离难船，并且利用救生艇进行海上求生的活动，以最大限度地保证旅客和船员的生命安全。海船配备使用的救生艇应该是具有一定的浮力、强度、航速，在承载额定乘员的同时，还配有一定的属备备品，并能够在恶劣天气下航行或漂流的刚性小艇，使船员和旅客的生命安全得到最大的保障。
2.海难发生之后的重要救生要素之一
救生艇在海船上配备使用已有近百年的历史，随着人们对海上人命安全保障认识的不断提高，配备的海船上的救生艇，也得到了不断地发展和完善。各种构造不同、材质不同的救生艇开始更好地服务于船舶，其具有的性能也随着不同船舶的相应要求而不断增多，已达到能更好地保障海上人命安全的目的。简单的了解救生艇的种类及其性能特点，对于广大海员熟悉和掌握救生艇，进一步的运用救生艇，在紧急情况出现时为救生提供保障。
（二）国内外相关课题的研究现状
对比国内外相关课题的研究，国内还处于初步发展阶段，大多数国内大型船只所配备的还是是欧美所放弃采用的全开放式救生艇，而国外的一些发达国家对于救生艇的概念已经上升到一个新的高度，致力于发展成能够潜水救援的新科技救生艇。
