The Contrastive Analysis of Appellation in Chinese and English
Abstract: The appellation is the name of that all kinds of social relations and social roles, which used in daily life. And it is one of the words, which is the most important and common used to interpersonal communication. Starting from the eastern and western different culture background, using comparative analysis method to analyze the Chinese-English appellation system, we can summarize the differences between Chinese and English kinship terms and social address terms in the number and use. It is helpful to the prediction of Chinese-English appellation emphasis and difficulty in second language teaching, and also is helpful to explore the method and skill of the second language teaching. Having a full understanding of differences in Chinese and English, we can successfully reduce barriers in the cross-cultural communication activities for the two countries.

汉英称谓语的对比分析
前言
称谓语是人们用来表示彼此间的各种社会关系以及所扮演的社会角色等所使用的名称。[1]在世界上各民族的语言习俗之中，不同的民族有着不同特征和语言习惯的称谓语。语言与文化密切相关，文化习俗、历史背景不同的民族，必定会产生各有特征的语言。众所周知，汉语和英语是世界上的两大强势语言，并且当前流行的“汉语热”、“英语热”现象更促使我们语言学习者对汉英两种语言进行对比研究。因此，了解汉英称谓语的差异以及差异的缘由，可以为两民族跨文化交际活动的顺利进行提供一定的依据；同时，也有利于了解和掌握第二语言教学中有关称谓语教学的重难点，并依据称谓语蕴含的文化因素，探究第二语言教学尤其是对外汉语教学和语文教学的方法和技巧。
在国外，最早对称谓语进行研究的是19世纪美国人类学家摩根有关人类家庭中血亲和姻亲系统的研究；[2]社会语言学的诞生，促使很多语言学家开始关注对称谓语的研究，其中Brown•Gilman，Brown•Ford被公认为是西方现代社会语言学对称谓语进行调查研究的开创者。[2]从中不难发现西方学者对称谓语问题的研究偏重于称谓语的界定和类属，对称谓语包含的文化因素研究不够详尽。
