Abstract Subtitle translation is a kind of translation to translate the original language subtitle of a movie to the target language subtitle. The subtitle translation of English movies has both entertainment and standards. This paper studies the entertainment of subtitle translation of English movies from four aspects, slang, the custom of language, catchword and idiom. The standards of subtitle translation of English movies mainly lie in concision, situation association and conforming to the cultural background. In the area of translation, the study of the entertainment and standard of subtitle perfects the achievement people already have in it. In terms of cultural exchange and transmission, the study of subtitle translation of English movie plays an important role in promoting and also promotes the mergence of cultures.

I. Introduction
Subtitle translation of English movies is a part of translation. It is short, at the bottom of the movie, changing with voice, with one or two lines. In subtitle translation, there are original language and target language. In this paper, the original language is English, the target language is Chinese. People look at the subtitle to know what the characters are speaking and thinking. Subtitle translation works for convenience when people are watching an English movie.
There are many articles about subtitle translation of English movies. These articles are about the strategies, purpose, effects of applying some theories and standards and so on. But how to judge the subtitle translation of an English movie is excellent or not is almost the same standard. Good subtitle translation of an English movie should be short in quantity, easy to understand in content, accordable in style and not contradictive in cultural background. With all these conditions, it is excellent subtitle translation.
The entertainment of subtitle translation in English movies mainly comes from how to translate the words and sentences of English in the movies. As movies are most composed by oral languages, like conversations, there must have slangs, catchwords and idioms, which are pretty causal, fun and express feelings exactly. So to translate the slangs, catchwords and idioms of original language into slangs, catchwords and idioms of target language can increase the entertainment of subtitle. Also just the target language with slangs, catchwords and idioms is very novel for movie viewers.
