Abstract Nowadays, with the development of the times, the way of cultural exchange between China and other counties is becoming more and more persified。 Film and television drama has become an important means of communication and vehicle of human cultural exchange。    This thesis studies the subtitle translation of television works from the perspective of Skopostheorie。 The feature of Skopostheorie is that the translation content does not necessarily correspond to the original translation but choose some different methods or strategies to achieve the purpose of translation。94106

Subtitle translation is also restrained by the space and time in which such activities take place。 As a result, the translators can only intend to choose the most appropriate translation strategy to achieve the ideal results。 This paper takes This Is Us as the subject of study, analyzes the subtitle translation from the perspective of Skopostheorie and in line with the three principles of Skopostheorie, analyzes how the translator utilizes different translation strategies to satisfy the expectations of the audience。

摘要随着时代的发展,国内外之间的文化交流方式越来越多样化。影视剧成为人类文化交流的沟通方式和重要载体。本文从目的论角度对影视作品的字幕翻译进行研究。目的论的特点是译文不一定完全对应原文而选择不同的方法策略达到翻译目的。

字幕翻译受时间和空间限制,所以要使用正确的翻译策略。本文以《我们的生活》为研究对象,从翻译目的论角度并结合目的论的三个原则分析字幕翻译,探讨译者在翻译中如何使用不同的翻译策略来满足观众的需要。

In recent years, with the development of Internet and globalization, more and more people choose audiovisual products as their entertainment and learning material。 Therefore, it can be concluded that the audiovisual products are an influential and powerful tool to exchange values, cultures and information。 However, among audience, very few of them have a good knowledge of English。 When watching original foreign audiovisual films or TV series, the audiences are prone to read the subtitle translation at the bottom of screen for the sake of making a full comprehension of the contents。 The study of subtitle translation of film and television works, especially in the last ten years has shown a rapid development tendency。 Then, the translator needs to think about an issue, that is, how to satisfy audience’s needs by promoting subtitle translation。 

Skopostheorie, which emerged in Germany in 1970s, is one school of the function-oriented approach to the theory and practice of translation。 The Skopostheorie states that the aim of translation is the prime principle determining any translation process, including methods and strategies used in translation。 Therefore, subtitle translation is a purposeful activity。 The purpose of translation is to translate the corresponding information from the source language into the target language by using some specific strategies。 By means of detailed analysis and comparison of the source and target text, this paper tries to make some findings。
