Abstract
The concept of time is a very important part in nonverbal communication, and different cultures shape different time views. Just like other value views, different time views form under different cultural backgrounds. This thesis will study Sino-US different time views: Chinese people’s Past-oriented time view and American’s Future-oriented time view, Chinese people’s Long-term orientation time view and American’s Short-term orientation time view, Chinese people’s Cyclically time view and American’s Linearly time view and so on. Understanding the different cultural differences can help us to effectively deal with cross-cultural communication with Americans to avoid making mistakes in order to promote cross-cultural communication.

I. Introduction
Time is a common definition shared by most people in the society and it will greatly influence people’s behaviors and minds. American anthropologist Hall believes that time will not talk, but it will send more clear information than language. However, people in different countries treat time in different views. With the trend of globalization, the US and China are facing more and more chances to communicate with each other. Through the study of concept of time, we can see that the two countries have different concepts of time to understand the root causes of the cultural differences. The differences on time view between China and the US can be attributed to differences in history, political forms, social status, religion and philosophy and other cultural values. The main way to solve cultural conflicts is to strengthen cultural communication and mutual understanding about the studies of temporal concepts between Chinese and Americans so that we can not only see the cultural differences in temporal concept, but also understand the fundamental and profound cultural factors which underlie these differences. And then we may be clear about how to resolve the conflicts and problems triggered by temporal concept, so as to communicate smoothly and successfully. Time, a cognitive concept shared by most of the human societies, imposes strong impact on human’s saying and doing subtly and invisibly. Time view is gradually formed in the course of people knew and changed this world and it is hardly changed once formed. In addition, time views will control people’s behaviors unconsciously. In turn, certain words and behaviors will also reflect a certain concept of time, sending some information of time. Therefore, as a way of non-verbal communication and interpersonal communication, it can express thoughts, feelings, exchanges of information, and also has its own unique features.
