英汉“红色”词汇对比分析(2)
Throughout the domestic and foreign scholars for the study of color words, the author summarizes a few scholars’ research directions of color words: study on the translation of color; study of intercultural communication in the social of color and research on the social attributes of color. So it is significant to make a contrastive analysis of red in both English and Chinese. To understand and master the meaning of color words in different cultures between English and Chinese not only is beneficial to improve the level of English language learning, but also to promote and strengthen the cultural exchange between China and the West, which has important guiding significance to the cultural fusion.
This paper lists many examples of red terms in both English and Chinese with the purpose of studying similarities and differences of “red” from the angle of semantics, and from the perspective of the cognition and culture to analyze the reasons about these similarities and differences.
