Abstract In the twenty-first Century, English has become universal. As a foreign language, English has been accepted and learned by the majority of the students in China. This paper mainly observes and studies the relationship of the four skills in English learning to apply the theoretical foundation in the application for further discussion. The paper aims to study the interrelationship of the four skills to cultivate and develop the English learners competence. Through the analysis, the four skills in English learning are complementary and interrelated. The combination of the four skills will help us increase our interest and confidence in learning English, what’s more, it can help us improve the quality of teaching.

I. Introduction
Human’s language ability is composed of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. So, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are the important way for people to communicate with others. They are also a vital way for human beings to know about the world, acquire the knowledge, develop the intelligence, interchange the emotion. They always appear as a whole in language and restrain each other, influence each other. Obviously, while we learn English, we should master these four skills. English learning demands people to listen more, because after that you can say something in English. What’s more, reading English more can make your pronunciation become better. At last, writing English can help you improve your English level. These four skills have a very internal relation.
After a very long time English education in China, just by the predecessor’ experience can we summarize some ways to learn English. In the early years of English teaching, in addition to implement the direct method of minority teachers, most teachers are highlighting, speaking, reading and writing, however, they have little attention to hearing and speaking. This, of course, it is decided by time. Many teachers want to Cultivate students in a traditional way. Their attitude decided by environment. So, many people have a strong desire to study reading, but oppositely, they are lack of listening skill and speaking skill. So this situation have an influence on the English teaching, for example, students can have a good score. However, they can not speak English fluently or listen foreigner simply. In fact, pronunciation and intonation plays a good role in promoting English.
