Abstract Khaled Hosseini (1965), an Afghan American novelist, achieves great success and worldwide fame, because of his first novel The Kite Runner（2003）. His second novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns (2007) becomes bestseller once more.42977

This thesis aims to interpret A Thousand Splendid Suns from the perspective of female Bildungsroman, focusing on analyzing the difficult growth of Laila, a female protagonist of the novel. It exposes the process of a woman finding her identity in the circumstances of war and patriarchal society. Under the influence of parents, lovers, educators and companions, she gains epiphany of her life. Realizing her importance to her parents and her essential role in the family, she finds out what she wants to be.

The essay consists of three parts. The first part describes Laila’s deficiency during the growth. The second part analyzes the influence and effects of guides. The third part focuses on Laila’s epiphany. Being influenced by guides, she achieves her own epiphany after going through all kinds of sufferings and difficulties.

From the exploration and interpretation of the novel, this thesis gets a conclusion that A Thousand Splendid Suns is concerned about female Bildungsroman. Laila’s growth is not smooth. Thanks to her teacher and father imparting knowledge and faith, and her close friend, Mariam offering support and assistance, she obtains a new and hopeful life. Khaled Hosseini shows great concerns for female development.

摘要卡勒德·胡塞尼因他的第一本小说《追风筝的人》，一举成名。之后又在2007年发表了第二本小说《灿烂千阳》，再次成为销售榜榜首。

该论文从女性成长的角度对《灿烂千阳》中女主人翁莱拉进行解读，通过对莱拉艰难的成长过程的探究，诠释了阿富汗女性在战争和男权社会的背景下，艰难地寻找自我的过程。在父母、爱人、教师以及同伴等领路人的影响下，她对自己的人生有了一定的顿悟。她意识到对于父母来说自己的重要性，明白了妻子在家庭中的地位，找到了自己的生活目标。

该论文共分三部分：第一部分描述了莱拉成长过程中的缺失。第二部分分析了领路人在莱拉成长过程中的作用及影响。第三部分主要关注的是莱拉在经历苦难后对自己人生的顿悟。揭示了她在经历苦难后，在领路人的影响，自我反思，获得了自己人生的顿悟。
