Abstract Cultural-loaded words are featured with strong national color and distinctive cultural identity. National literary works always contain a large number of cultural-loaded words. The translation of cultural-loaded words requires that translators should understand foreign cultures accurately and at the same time keep the original meanings of these words. Skopos theory is the guide of translation. When translating, the anslator should make the purposes of translation clear, and then he can choose the corresponding strategies. All of these can make a great translation.42978

Based on Skopos theory, this paper, takes Mo Yan’s novel Life and Death are Wearing Me Out as a case, and studies how the translator chose translation strategies when translating the cultural-loaded words. In this thesis, the author reorganizes cultural-loaded words into five classifications,which are material culture, religious culture, language culture, historical allusions, and myths and legends. Then through a large number of examples, the author studies the translation strategies used by Howard Goldblatt in his translation to summarize the translation strategies usually chosen by translators，the factors influencing the translation of cultural-loaded words and the problems translators will meet in the translation process. At last,the author hopes the research will be useful in promoting the development of translation between different languages.

摘要文化负载词能体现语言中浓厚的民族色彩和鲜明的文化个性。具有民族性的文学作品往往包含着大量的文化负载词。文化负载词的翻译要求译者在准确理解他国文化的同时忠实地传达其含义。目的论对翻译起着指导作用，译者在翻译时，只有先确定了其翻译目的，才能选择对应的翻译策略，最终成就优秀译作。

本文拟从目的论的角度出发，以此为理论支撑,以葛浩文对莫言《生死疲劳》的译本为个案+吹冰"文'论[文]网:www.chuibin.com，研究译者对文化负载词的翻译策略。笔者对文中的文化负载词进行分类整理,将其分为物质文化、宗教文化、语言文化、历史典故、神话传说五大类，然后通过大量的实例分析，研究葛浩文在英译文化负载词过程中常用的翻译方法，试图总结译者在翻译过程中常用的翻译策略，以及影响文化负载词翻译的因素和翻译过程中所遇到的障碍等。期望通过以上研究，能促进不同语言之间的翻译发展。
