Journey towards Self-actualization--an Exploration of Sara’s Growth in A Little Princess from Maslow’ s Theory of Hierarchy of Needs Abstract Hierarchy of Needs, a theory put forward by A. H. Maslow, a famous American psychologist, consists of five needs: physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, esteem needs and the need for self-actualization to describe the different needs human beings pursue and after at their different stages of growth. Based on the theory of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, this paper aims to analyze Sara’s different needs at her different stages of growth in different growing environment and her journey to achieve self-actualization from a wealthy princess envied by many people to a poor princess who remains all her qualities despite of the hard environment, from which Maslow’s theory is shown to be a very important and practical theory to analyze human’s psychology, motivation and self-actualization and a new perspective to research Frances Burnett’s A Little Princess is realized.46998

马斯洛需求层次视角下《小公主》中萨拉自我实现的成长历程

摘  要需要层次理论由美国著名的心理学家马斯洛提出。他根据人类的动机，将人类的需求从低到高逐一分为生理需求，安全需求，爱与归属感的需求，尊重需求以及自我实现，以此来描述人类在不同成长阶段的不同需求。根据马斯洛的需要层次理论，本篇论文对《小公主》中主人公萨拉在不同成长阶段和不同成长环境下的不同需求进行分析，阐述萨拉如何在困难和贫穷面前保持优秀的品质，最终达到自我实现。从中可以证明马斯洛的需要层次理论对于分析人类心理，动机和自我实现是一个非常重要和实践性的理论。并且，运用马斯洛需要层次理论为分析弗朗西丝伯内特的著作《小公主》提供了一个新的视觉。
