The Brief Analysis of the Bystander in The Great Gatsby Abstract Francis Scott Fitzgerald is one of the most outstanding writers in the United States in 1920s. His masterpiece The Great Gatsby is widely considered as his most perfect work. This work also lays a solid position in the history of American literature for him. The paper mainly focuses on the bystander---Nick Carraway. 作者在小说中对傍观者这一身份的塑造，是《了不起的盖茨比》成功的一个重要因素，本文将从叙述方式，人物形象以及人物关系和情节三方面来论述旁观者这一形象对于小说内容以及主题的重要性。而且，作者对当时时代敏锐的观察力，让旁观者这一身份不仅仅对于小说本身，更对当时社会和历史都有了重要的意义。
