In the world, international communication is becoming more and more important. Therefore, understanding the cultural differences between Chinese and American is not only an academic problem but also a practical problem. Because of the difference in historical culture, customs and habits, living environment, religious belief cultural conflicts arise. Thus multiple problems appeared about global communication. This paper emphatically discusses the cultural differences between Chinese and American embodied in The Joy Luck Club to encourage people to further realize the process of globalization under the inference of cultural differences. In addition, we hope that the cultural differences should be paid attention to in cross-cultural communication in order to communicate with others successfully.
