Abstract Little Miss Sunshine is an American black comedy drama and the directorial film debut of the husband-wife team of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards. At the same time, this movie is the representative of American Dream. The movie Little Miss Sunshine is helpful to analyze American Dream. In the perspective of American Dream, American Dream has both broad sense and narrow sense. In broad sense ,American Dream refers to equality, freedom and democracy in American; In narrow sense, it is a kind of belief that as long as you work hard ,you will be able to obtain the ideal of a better life in American, that is, people must work hard with courage, creativity and determination to move towards prosperity., rather than rely on specific social classes and other assistance. The American dream is a common faith which is believed by most Americans and the film Little Miss Sunshine is the true embodiment of the American dream, so this paper will have a deep interpretation of the definition of American dream and introduction of the development of American as well as the manifestation of American Dream in Little Miss Sunshine to let everyone know the essence of the American dream.
