As legends recorded, when a person was transformed into a vampire at first, he would keep his humanity as a characteristic of a human. But along with the fear of sunlight and high temperature, he would lose the ability to stay outside in the daytime; at the same time, he must have had a strong desire for blood. Gradually, he and even a group of vampires would stay far away from human beings with his or their thoughts and behaviors being changed. The vampire, in the beginning, might try to fight against his own behavior, but unfortunately, his nature eventually got the upper hand so as to become a real vampire.

With the development of modern industry civilization brought by Renaissances, some literature and art works started to get involved in vampires, from which vampires were undoubtedly described as cruel and horrible monsters. These works put vampires into various structures, moreover, writers and authors spared no pains to search for the clues that vampires had truly existed in many historical documents and make out the origin and history of vampires with full of creativity. Then, vampire culture formed.

2.1.2 Different Religious Roots
Different religious roots would be the radical and basic reason to make differences of inpidualities between eastern ghost culture and western vampire culture. It is believed that China has many god beliefs while westerners are almost Christians.

There are two main religions in China: Taoism and Buddhism. Taoism has an impressive effect on many aspects in Chinese ancient society, especially on Chinese ghost culture. In Konfuziamismus and Taoismus, Taoists almost had some outstanding features: they had all emotions and feelings just like human beings (Weber, 1995). Such findings in Taoism had given people an illusion that as long as they learned well from Taoism they would be ghosts after their death. Meanwhile, the population of Buddhism had a profound influence on outlook on the hell. That is to say, no matter how poor or rich he was, his soul would be judged by Yama in the hell after his death. Owing to the two different concepts from the two religions, Chinese ghost culture was made to be colorful.
