As quality-oriented education evolves, the importance of effective teaching methods has rooted deeply in people’s heart. Family education has been a hot spot of social discussion. Good family education has something to do with children's characteristics and behaviors. What’s more, it is closely linked with the future of our country. Children learn knowledge from books at school. However, there is something only learned through practice with the help of parents. Family is related to infinite possibilities for learning and parents give their children more possibilities.

Last year, there was a hot TV program called Super Brain,which caused a dissension about education between China and western countries in one period. Both of two 13-year-old boys, Li Yunlong from China, Andrew from Italy, are so talented, which made people who concerned the program amazed. People wondered how they could be so great. There were apparent contrasts between two boys.  During the competition, Li Yunlong almost broke down and could not resist crying when he found his answer was different from Andrew’s while Andrew felt calm even though he lost the match and felt sad when Li cried. Although Li Yunlong won finally which made people felt proud, his behavior during the competition made related people think deeply. After the competition, when the host interviewed them how they spent their own free life, there were two different answers. Li Yunlong said his father regulated his time and he almost had no spare time to play and exercise and what he did was keep studying all the time. On the contrary, Andrew said that his parents did not intervene his time. Apart from weekends, he could do some sports such as playing football after school. At this time, there was a moment of silence. 

Li Yunlong was a typical example under Chinese education, who has learned various types of knowledge from childhood under the great expectation of parents, but where did their free time and their innocence go? There are typical differences between them. 

2.1 Differences in the Tendency of Education

The Chinese parents pay more attention to cultivate their children to be talents. In other words, they expect their children to have a good occupation so that their children can live in a comfortable life. However, they often neglect the healthy development of children's personality. They do more to train their children under established forms and try their best to put the broad road for their growth.

However, the American parents attach more importance to cultivate their children to be able to adapt all kinds of social environment. So they provide a relaxed and comfortable environment for their children’s and foster their children at their children’s will. Moreover, they have no consistent teaching ways and cultivate their children according to the change of society and the characteristic of children’s body and psychology.文献综述

2.2 Differences in the Values of Education

The function of Chinese family education is limited by Chinese traditional culture. The Chinese traditional Confucian culture lays emphasis on the cultivation of one’s moral character, the running of one’s family, the administration of a state, the peace and security of the world. Under this direct thought, the family education owns the direct social importance. Apart from this, the Chinese traditional culture also thinks that family education is related directly with children's inpidual growth. The Chinese parents care more about the reputation rather than other things in educating their children and think that educating their children to be a person who can be useful is their achievement. However, if not, the parents may be shameful. The educational goal is to earn their living and to achieve honor. As we all known, some parents usually like discussing their own child and comparing other child with their own child, especially with their children's study.
