1.2 Research Design and Methodology 

The paper studies the background and research results of the female criticism literary, focusing on the creative idea and main achievement of the modern female writer Eileen Chang, applying feminist literary theory, with a brief reference to the depiction of Scarlett in Gone with the wind, analyzing Bai’s view of life and marriage concept, comparing their different ways to pursue love in a survival situation, analyzing the social and historical reasons. The research uses the methodology of content analysis，on the basis of relevant academic documents. 

In the first part of the paper, female consciousness, especially Eileen Chang’s view of female consciousness is to be introduced. 2 The Awakening of Female Consciousness  

Female consciousness is women’s own experience and gnosis about their value. It expressed as women’s refusal to accept the traditional definition of women in male society and the questioning of male power. At the same time, women began to concern about female living conditions, inspect female inner feelings and express women’s life experience. Female Literature refers to human liberation and symbolizes the fight for the female independence (Li Yeping, 1988: 60). Some scholars believed the gender equity in China officially began with the eruption of May 4th Movement, and from then on, feminine consciousness was awaken. Enlightened by the pioneers, a part of the educated females who accepted the baptism of the May 4 new trend of thoughts, took the lead in awakening (Zhang Aihua, 2012: 40).
