1。 Introduction

1。1 Research Background 

There is no doubt that English is today’s universal language, which can also be called ‘global language’。 A huge number of people from all over the world are learning English every day。 China has the largest population in the world, and at the same time there are a growing number of people who learn English every year。 Compared with other areas, China has a unique English study pattern as is deeply influenced by Confucianism。 As time goes by, Chinese English is gradually formed。 Due to the huge impact of Chinese thought and culture, Chinese English is quite unique that it can be regarded as a mixture of Chinese culture and Western culture。 According to this phenomenon, voices are variety。 A large group of scholars hold a critical attitude to Chinglish because it can be regarded as a ‘misshapen language’; it can do harm to the effectiveness of communication and even lead to the failure of communication in a degree。 Nevertheless, it does have its necessity and significance as it is a product of times。 It is really important for people to hold an objective attitude and adopt a right strategy to make it meet the development of society。 Its influence is deeper and deeper。 Its existence cannot be ignored and it should be treated with a scientific attitude。论文网

1。2 Purpose of the study

This paper is aimed to solve the following questions。

First, there are varieties of languages in the world。 However, only English can be regarded as a lingua franca in the world now。 Because of the popularity of English, Chinese English can be quite common and become a special phenomenon。 Thus, it is necessary to have a clear understanding about why English can be a lingua franca as it is the main factor of the research background。

Second, according to the previous studies of Chinglish, the appearance and development of Chinglish have been clearly concluded。 The history of Chinglish study is more than 30 years。 It is not difficult to find different voices to the occurrence of Chinglish。 Hundreds of scholars have pointed out there opinions to Chinglish。 Thus, it is necessary to have a thorough understanding of Chinglish。

Third, Chinglish and China English are not distinguished clearly now。 In other words, scientific and standard levels of differentiating these two terms are needed。 Current studies focus more on the understanding of the connotation of China English。 However, it is necessary to make a clear boundary for these two terms in order to have a clear thought of the connection between Chinglish and China English。

Fourth, due to the possibility of transition from Chinglish to China English, suitable suggestions are needed to promote this transition。 For example, suggestions about translating words in special Chinese culture are needed as they can help reduce the usage of imappropriate Chinglish as well as improve the widespread of sepcial China English。

1。3 Significance of the study

It should be acknowledged that the history of study of Chinglish is no longer than 30 years。 Obviously, the study in this area is quite immature。 There are still many language patterns and terms which should be clarified clearly。 Besides, quantities of studies should be carried out to have a deeper understanding of this language phenomenon。 What should be pointed out is that there is huge gap in the study of the differences and connections between Chinglish and China English。 In order to find out the suitable ways of making transition of Chinglish to China English come true, abundant studies and scientific data are needed。 Such related studies and analysis can help fulfill the gap in this area and ensure the development of China English。 It can also promote the varieties of English and the spread of Chinese culture, which is beneficial to the development of human culture in the whole world。
