American writer Faulkner novel The Rose for Emily is regarded as a masterpiece of American Southern Gothic novel。 Since its inception has achieved widespread concern, scholars have launched a lively discussion and put forward their own unique views on the novel from various angles, such as symbolism in the novel, role analysis and narrative angle。 This paper mainly analyzes the root of the tragedy of Emily, through the aspects of the social environment, family factors, as well as their own direction。 Through the character trait、cultural background to interpret, depicts the decline of the old southern society and exposes all kinds of ugly social phenomena under the old system, expression of the author of the moral concept, culture and customs, such as the formation of the rogue and love, mapping out the old southern society of love and hate to stop the feelings of the south。文献综述

3。 Roots from Social Environmental
