Abstract New curriculum reform advocates cooperative learning, it is the main form in English classroom teaching。 Along with the advancement of the modern teaching idea, cooperative learning has been widely accepted。 In recent years, group cooperative learning in English teaching is also favored by teachers because it is beneficial to students’ comprehensive language practice activity。 This paper introduces the contents, forms, concrete application as well as its necessities of cooperative learning in English classroom teaching which is based on the studies of cooperative learning and many theories from the author’s Canadian mentor。 76317

摘要新课改倡导合作学习, 小组学习是其主要形式。近年来,英语教学中小组合作学习也受到教师的青睐,因为它有利于学生语言实践活动的全面开展。本文以合作学习理论为基础,综合作者在加拿大学习时导师所传授的关于合作学习的经验,介绍了合作学习的内容、形式、必要性以及在英语课堂教学中的具体应用。

1。 Introduction 

Over the years, foreign language teaching in China has been focusing on teaching, knowledge and textbook, ignoring the students’ active learning which led to the students’ low learning efficiency。 In order to adapt to the development of the international situation, our country, China began to implement the new curriculum teaching reform。 The main content of the new curriculum reform in our country is to promote the all-round development of human beings, pay attention to the cultivation of ability and transform the mode of learning。 Transforming the mode of learning refers to transfer a single, passive learning style into an independent, groping, cooperative and perse one。 Through cooperative learning, learners develop their cognitive, meta-cognitive capability, social ability and linguistic ability。论文网

Cooperative learning encourages students to become study masters, makes students’ subject consciousness and creativity receives development, cultivate students’ practical ability and spirit of cooperation。 Cooperative learning plays a positive role in improving students’ scholastic attainment, shaping students’ positive attitude towards discipline and developing students’ critical thinking ability。 However, using cooperative learning in practical teaching is influenced by various factors and its effect also needs to be further improved。 Whether cooperative learning can develop smoothly in the teaching environment of big class size, too many students and different English levels is a worthy question to explore。
