 Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Dictionary for   English Major Undergraduates in Translation

Abstract As the world is globalized and the Internet is developed, translating work and online dictionary also catch the trend to develop. The combination of translation and online dictionary brings many advantages and disadvantages, especially for English major students who have opportunities to practice translating exercises on the Internet or who are ready to study MTI to engage in translating work. In order to clearly know specific advantages and disadvantages of online dictionary for English major undergraduates in translation, I have conducted an research and analyzed the data of a questionnaire. Finally, I listed detailed advantages and disadvantages in the sequence of looking-up stages(from the stage of getting an online dictionary to the stage of retrieving a word and of analyzing and choosing suitable information), and from the perspective of cognitive process I explained the reason for the nature of advantages and disadvantages.

摘  要随着世界全球化，以及互联网快速发展，各国合作往来逐渐频繁，翻译人员的需求量大大增加，同时，互联网的发展也使得翻译工具在线词典广泛普及运用。翻译练习中在线词典的使用不仅给使用者带来了好处，同样也带来了坏处，特别是对于致力于从事翻译事业，以及开展过新闻编译和字幕翻译的英语专业本科生。在这种形势下，为了更好地认识并充分利用在线词典，我对在线词典对于英语专业本科生在翻译练习中的利弊进行了实证研究。最终`吹冰^文*论|文\网www.chuibin.com，优点和缺点一一列出，并将其与使用词典的顺序（打开某种在线词典、检索某个单词、认知和提取合适词义）相对应，使得读者更能详细具体地认识优点和缺点。另外，我还从认知过程的角度分析解释了在线词典对于本科生在翻译过程中的优点和缺点的本质。
