前言
汉字（Chinese character），也称中文，是汉语之下相对应的文字，它由4300年前黄帝的史丞仓颉所发明，在古文献中被称为“书”，汉代才有了“汉字”一词，用于指称中国汉族文字。汉字是当今世界上唯一在用的自源性文字，是世界上现存最古老的文字。汉字是表意性质的单音节文字，现代常用的汉字有四千到八千个，大多数是形声字。在长久的实践中，中国汉族创造的辉煌历史和长久积累的知识都依靠汉字保存至今。有学者认为汉字是文系中国南北长期处于统一状态的关键元素之一，亦有学者将汉字列为中国第五大发明。于是，汉字作为汉文化的重要承载者，有着深厚的文底蕴和规律性可循，汉字本身研究作为汉语学的重要组成部分，对汉字来源和意义的研究有助于我们发掘对外汉语汉字教学的一般教学规律，对汉语作为第二语言教学具有指导作用。我们应就汉语自身所具有的构字理据性，以汉字本体研究对对外汉语教学汉字的启示方面，找寻汉字教学难点之处的突破口。
一、 现行汉字的特性
（一）文字的性质
文字的基本性质是对语言的再编码，是语言的书写/视觉符号系统，它的产生不是一蹴而就的。判定是否已经产生文字系统，要看是是否有一套与某一种语言的语言符号及其排列有固定对应关系的书写/视觉符号。
