As we all know, English has becoming the most widely spread language in the world with the expanding of globalization。 The function of English as a universal language assumes its importance in the fact that more and more people are using English to communicate with each other。 The situation is the same in China。 The new curriculum standard for English teaching in Chinese also puts forwards newer and higher requirements for English teaching。 

With the rapid development of technology, the information technology has changed people’s lives, learning and even the way of thinking。 Therefore, in order to develop people’s learning and studying potentials, teaching must be in a faster speed and higher efficiency。 Information technology has become one of the most important aspects in affecting a country’s education quality, which makes the traditional education faces great challenges。 Thus, the old teaching mode has gradually been replaced by the new teaching mode。 Multimedia technology has been widely used in middle school English classroom as a new teaching mean。

Multimedia technology which applies interactive computer elements, including graphics, text, video, sound, and animation, to deliver a message, is useful in promoting English teaching and learning。 The benefits of multimedia have been made obvious by many teachers and students, but there are still many problems。 The benefits and problems in the application of multimedia technology in English teaching are always being argued。 It is urgent and necessary to evaluate this new teaching mode。 The application of multimedia technology holds a great significance for English learning can go a long way in developing study skills in learners。 I hope the investigation can provide a better understanding of how multimedia technology should be applied in middle school English teaching。

Since the late twentieth century, human society has moved forward the information age, which is represented by digital audio, video and global networks。 During the information age, with the rapid development of multimedia technology and its application spreads throughout various fields, foreign language teaching has benefits a lot as well as other fields。 As the organic combination of multimedia technology with foreign language teaching practice, multimedia computer assisted language learning (MCALL) has promoted the improvement of the quality and efficiency of foreign language teaching, and has made foreign language teaching develop in a more scientific, rational way。
