In the thesis, the first chapter is to give an introduction on the significance and background of writing this paper。 In chapter two, the author deals with the studies of skopos theory and subtitle translation both at home and abroad。 Chapter three mainly analyzes the purpose of subtitle translation of animated film。 Chapter four is the core of the whole thesis because it copes with the translation methods the film translator used to achieve the skopostheorie。 The last part is the conclusion of the whole thesis。

2。 Literature Review

     The study of the skopos theory at home has went through two periods, the first period was the beginning stage and the second period was the stage of development and prosperity。 From the 1980s to the turn of this century was the start-up stage in which people mainly introduce the skopos theory。 From 2001 to nowadays is the development and prosperity stage in which thousands of thesis have been published, including translation practice and translatology。 For example, such translation practice consists of translation strategies, translation criticism, translation teaching and literary and non-literary translation。

     The famous scholar Du Qianyuan is the first person who introduced the skopostheorie into China。 His article is the avant-courier in the specific field。 Later on, Zhang Nanfeng wrote an article which again introduced the skopos theory to Chinese in detail。 At the same time, Zhong Weihe and Zhong Yu are the academic leader who first introduced the skopostheorie systematically。 However, the first scholar who applied skopos theory to translation study is Chen Xiaowei。 What’s more, Guo Jianzhong once discussed the culture elements in translation from the perspective of domestication and foreignization, different translation purpose, text type and so on。

     During the flourishing stage, the most prominent feature of skopos theory is that it has been applied widely to all kinds of translation practice。 Under the guidance of skopos theory, the scholars analyzes the translation strategies and some translation problems。 Among those scholars, many of them combine the skopos theory with the literary text。 For instance, Gan Fangfang once wrote the thesis called The Comparative Study of the three translated version of Ulysses from the Perspective of Skopostheorie。 But a majority of scholars combine the skopos theory with non-literary translation, such as tourism translation, advertising trademark translation and so on。

2。1。2 Studies on skopostheorie abroad

     In the 1970s, some scholars represented by Katharina Reiss, Hans J Vermeer, Justa Holz-Manttari and Christiane Nord put forward functional translation theory, which generated widespread concerns in the translation circles。 Such theory is an important complement to the traditional translation theory based on the equivalence and break a new path on the study of translation theory(Deng 82)。 

     Skopostheory is the key theory to the functional translation theory。 The core notion of the Skopotheorie: Hans Vermeer, a translation theorist, held that translation is a purposeful human activity after study the behavior theory。(Deng 82)。 Therefore, such opinion made the translation study free from the boundage of original text。 In 1984, Katharina Reiss and Hans J Vermeer pointed that translation is not only regarded as a speech process but also an activity which refers to the transition from one language to another。 Translation is an human activity and any activity need a goal, a purpose。(Sun 19)。 Later on, Christiane Nord summarized and perfected the theory。 He thought that translation is a purposeful and effective language communication activity and this behavior must be completed through negotiation。
