In China, conventional cultures give profound symbolic meaning of traditional vegetables and plants, in order to conform to the name used some color like white, green, yellow and so on bright color。 “白玉”is white jade, foreigner will not know it is represent tofu, and they will also not understand “芙蓉”, it is egg white in China while other foreigners only know lotus which is one of flowers。 What about the famous Chinese stone“翡翠”,which foreigners eagerness to buy to decorate their house or as a gift for their loves, they won’t know it only means green beans。 But the elegant association with another language and culture cannot be in harmony。 In a word, the translation of Chinese dishes should learn from the art of naming dishes, try to give an index to Chinese cooking features and some Chinese long history, popular dishes in translation of Chinese can also be added, thus it is needed for foreigners to understand the dish’s origin better。 In the process of translation, one of the important tasks is to tell foreigners our Chinese cultural traits and the unique Chinese food。
