(4) The agreement maxim。 This rule requires people to pay attention to others’ identity and social status。 That is to say, speakers and listeners should try to minimize differences。 It embodies the Chinese culture 。

(5)The generosity maxim。 This rule requires people to reduce the cost of others, increase the benefits to others and try to exaggerate the benefits from others。 This seems to violate the “quality maxim” in the principles of cooperation, but it embodies the virtues of “modesty” and “comity” in China。
