Title Translation of Hero’s Name in the Game “Dota”
Abstract
As we all know, the MOBA games became more and more popular in the circles of young people. The game “dota” as the founder of all MOBA games, have a lot of fans. But when “dota” has been introduced into China, the most interesting thing was the translation of Hero’s Name.
The depth of the translation and its symbolic meaning will be greatly influenced the game itself. Now, we will take a few names of hero to analysis its historical meaning and enjoy its beauty which people have been deeply influenced.

1.1 The Significance of Topic
The MOBA games is becoming more and more popular in the young people. In order to learn the arts of the translation among games, we need to understand the methods for games translating. However, most of us have been underestimate the complicated and culture-related meaning of the games.
1.2 Research Methods
The main methods for the study are insisting on the text book will be useless for the new works of our students, so, We need to find some better way to learn some intriguing things. The ways of translation and its symbolic meaning will be greatly influenced the people. Now, we will take a few names of hero to analysis its colorful meaning and enjoy its beauty which people have been deeply influenced.
2.Classification and Translation of Heros
2.1 The game itself
Dota as in short, its full name is “Defense of the Ancients”, can be translated as“守卫古树,守护遗迹”or “守卫先人”, is the most popular game in the world, have many heroes who fight each other in a arena. I will take the hero’s name as an example, to explain the greatness of the translation for games. One of the first dota maps in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, The Defense of the Ancients, was done by a map maker named Eul. However, after the release of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, the map became unplayable, as it was edited with an mpq editor in order to change the files within the map for custom skills, due to the change of table formatting with the new World Editor that was actually capable of editing skills. In addition to this, Eul's expansion pack version of Defense of the Ancients, Dota 2: Thirst for Gamma, did not successfully take the place of the original Defense of the Ancients. In time, several spin-offs of Dota started circulating on Battle.net (the official multiplayer gaming server network for Warcraft III). Dota at that time was a compilation of all the "cool" heroes in each spin off and origin alike, and it quickly became one of the most popular custom games on Battle.Net.
