从异功能翻译论看信息功能在古诗词现场口译中的重要性
Firstly, I would avail myself of this opportunity to give my heartfelt thanks to my supervisor, Associate Prof. , a very amicable, passionate and mostly important, responsible teacher. She has given me so many constructive, practical and to-the-point recommendations that I took into consideration and made improvements on my paper, not only in choosing words or sentence organization but also in the whole structure and format. Under her patient guidance in selecting my topic and her constant support and help in the process of my writing, I finally complete the present thesis smoothly.
Prof. is also the very person that I want to convey my profound gratitude to. She taught me Advanced Interpretation last semester. It is her excellent experience and professional interpreting skills that have aroused my great interest in the field of interpreting. I want to become an interpreter in the future, and that is also the reason why I prefer to continue my study in translation and interpreting overseas the following semester.

Abstract With the increasingly strong trend of economic globalization, as well as the elevation of Chinese international status, China has strengthened its cooperation with foreign countries in almost every field, particularly in the commercial and financial transactions. It is common to see the representatives from China in various international conferences. As the authoritative language of the United Nations, English is regarded as the universal language, a mastery of which is indispensable in communicating with foreigners. The qualified and professional interpreters, however, are of great scarcity in current China. In addition, the guiding theories of interpreting practice are not so complete as that of translation.
In translation theory, the one closely related to interpretation is pragmatic translation that is subpided into documentary translation and instrumental translation by Christina Nord. This paper, principally based on the heterofunctional translation coming from instrumental translation, with examples of the conference interpretations of ancient verses in speeches of Chinese leaders, through the thorough analysis of the results of the questionnaire, proves that in on-site interpreting circumstances, often interpreters have to weaken other functions of the source text whereas emphasize the informative function of the target text in order to better fulfill the purpose of cultural exchanges and transmissions. After the verification of the significance of heterofunctional translation, the author has come up with some practical and correlative suggestions with the hope of providing better guidance for interpreting.
This paper is split into five parts. The first part functions as an introduction. The second part generally elaborates on the development of the heterofunctional translation. The third part expounds on the significance of informative function in interpretation practice under the guidance of heterofunctional translation in the process of cross-cultural communication. The forth part further determines the importance of informative function and the effectiveness of heterofunctional translation via the detailed analysis of the questionnaire. The fifth part serves as a conclusion.
