Lastly, the language of male is more concise and direct. There are two reasons for this phenomenon. On the one hand, it is determined by the language styles of men and women. On the other hand, women are less confident than men in the manner of speaking. For example, female like to use “You know”, “I think”, “I guess”, “I am not sure” etc. so as to express their opinions. Studies have found that even though some female are fairly confident in what the have talked, they still show lack of confidence or hesitation. In contrast, men are willing to express straightforwardly about their wishes and ideas, and they don't like to express vacillatingly.
Language is regarded as the carrier of thought and the most important communicative tool, and it inevitably reflects the speaker’s attitude and idea. Therefore, the analysis of gender differences in language can help people understand the social and cultural assumption in the language. This part uses some sociolinguistic theories and viewpoints to make a beneficial exploration in the characteristics and differences between the two genders. Through the illustrations, men and women are more different than alike in conversation. In general, males’ language is powerful while female’s is relatively powerless. Females are viewed as more expressive, supportive, compliant, and conforming, while males are perceived as more aggressive, instrumental, and task-oriented.
