2. Chapter I: The Background of Alice Munro and Dear Life

Alice Munro, “a master of the contemporary short story,” is the 13th female literature laureate of the Nobel Prizes in the year 2013. She is also the winner of the Man Booker International Prize in 2009, three times Canada's highest prize in literature--Governor General's Literary Award and tons of other awards and honors from English Speaking Countries. In her 60 years' writing career, she has contributed 13 short story collections and one novel to the world Literature where Dear Life turns out to be the last short story collection. Alice Munro has experienced much migration in her life which later is reflected in her works and which also has earned some thoughts and inspiration for her works creation.
