Abstract As we all know, interest is very important in language learning。 However, many middle school students are lack of interest in the course of learning English。 They show little passion in English which leads to low teaching efficiency。 Therefore, based on the analysis of the current situation of some middle schools in Yunnan Province, the thesis points out the necessity of cultivating students’ interest in learning English。 It also elaborates that teachers should set students as main roles and select appropriate teaching strategies according to students’ practical situations to stimulate students’ interest, develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and personality and eventually improve teaching efficiency。 93655

摘要众所周知，在学习中，兴趣非常重要，但是许多学生在学习英语的过程中缺乏学习兴趣，学习积极性不高，以至于学习成绩不理想。基于此，本文对云南省部分中学英语教学现状分析的基础上，指出培养初中生英语学习兴趣的必要性，并详细阐述了教师要根据学生的实际情况，以学生为主体，选用一系列能够激起学生学习兴趣的教学方法和策略来培养初中生学习英语的兴趣，从而提高教学效果，使学生树立爱学，乐学的信心，实现自尊，自信和个性健康发展。
