Since reform and opening up policy, interest research has presented new prospect。 Pan Shu points out that study interest presents learners’ creativity and positivity during teaching。 Interest would push students to explore continuously and achieve more desire for learning knowledge (Pan 44)。 Li Hongyu and He Yisu emphasize the positive function of interest。 As they say that interest is a great vital motivation for students to learn and explore knowledge, and is an element to encourage them to participate in class activities actively (Li and He 58)。 Although interest and excited motivations are undulating in long distance run process, but because of the persistent motivation, it is still the core strength to cross the hurdle and reach the end。 Chen Yu fang, who had left in the elementary school high grades students as the test object, and investigated the relationship between learning interest and self-confidence 。The results found that primary school students’ performance and learning self-confidence are based on their learning interest。 A student can make good performance in his favorite subjects, and this positive correlation increases in accordance with the increasing grade。 Cultivating students’ interest and enhancing their self-confidence during teaching procedures are important。 What’s more, the results show that the interest plays a significant effect on it。 With higher interest level, readers would have a stronger reasoning ability to read the content。 What’s more, the effect of interest on the article understanding is relatively independent on the background knowledge。

3。 The Current English Teaching Situation in Yunnan Province 

The first task of successful English teaching is to stimulate students’ interests。 It is also important to make them feel the joy of learning English。 So how to cultivate middle school students’ interests in learning English is crucial to English teachers。 However, because of the large gap between eastern and western economic development in China, the western students start to learn English much later than the eastern students。 Just in Yunnan Province, there are 25 minorities。 Different minorities have different life styles and national customs。
