It is generally accepted that the personality factors in middle school English learning mainly involve the views and opinions on how to learn English, mental and psychological state, age, language aptitude, cognitive style, academic motivation, characters and so on. These factors are not only independent on each other, but also interrelated and interact on each other. In this thesis, I’ll start from the definition of the personality factors, carry out around the factors and the interaction between them, and pay attention to the personality factors’ role and effect in middle school English learning.
II. Personality Factors
2.1 Influencing Factors in Middle School English Learning
Chinese education develops rapidly in recent years. The implementation of quality education has become an irreversible trend, in which English teaching also gets a more and more significant position. Concomitantly, studying and analyzing on middle school English learning has also become an important topic, which leads the way of English teaching in the class. With lots of different features, the current English class in middle school, keeping up with the trend of the times, has its own way of running. However, there are still some factors that influence English learning for middle school students in its running mode.
According to the principle of the interaction between extrinsic factors and intrinsic factors in middle school English learning, the influencing factors relate to several aspects.
The first factor is the deployment and implementation of the school English teaching. At present, students contact English earlier than before, even when they are just babies. For instance, a three-year-old child can sing the ABC English song or recite the 26 letters of the English alphabet. With the growth of age, the students who are in age from 12 to 18 need a systematical study of English to help them say and use it better. So, school has been an optimal choice of the place to give students such systematical study. As the main organization of teaching, the school has to push the deployment and implementation of school English teaching, which involves a lot. School must improve all aspects of the campus facilities constantly to provide students with a good English learning environment. Moreover, there should be strong and professional faculty force and rich pedagogical resources in the school to allow students to select and use. Above all, this work must be given highly priority from the school and its various departments.
