1.2 Significance of the Study
Due to the differences of characteristics and cultural values between English and Chinese, those two kinds of euphemisms appear distinctive. Tracing the source of their language systems and cultural backgrounds to find the differences is benefit to eliminate barriers from cross-cultural communication and strengthen cultural exchange. Meanwhile, in the phenomena of convergence, a view of development and contact towards English and Chinese euphemisms is a juncture of the understanding process that the two language cultures collide and then blend during the interaction.
