《罗密欧与朱丽叶》和《梁山伯与祝英台》爱情悲剧比较分析(2)
Both of these two tragedies end in the tragic death of the protagonists. Yet the lovers in Butterfly loves are reunited as a pair of butterflies after death. The tragedy is filled with the magical atmosphere by adopting a happy ending. Romeo and Juliet can be moved to the shadow of the Renaissance society in many places and the author's emotion and attitude at that time. Renaissance emphasizes the pursuit of inpidual freedom and constantly liberal personality; it is easy to imagine that this kind of emphasis on personal culture and the shape of narrative in Shakespeare’s character inevitably have distinct personality. Western tragedies advocating struggle never give spirit and fight for freedom, even by death spell. Romeo and Juliet desperate to follow the nature of inpidual and personal desire as the center, not for any other factors to suppress inpidual desire and lust, and they have a spirit of “no buts, not dead”, so their glorious personality is always showing off. Shakespeare's struggle against the fate and the spirit of Elizabethan combine personal heroism to shape the face of bad luck. However, Butterfly lovers happened in the society of feudal system which occupies the absolute dominance of the China in order to maintain their autocratic rule and keep under strict control to the idea of the whole field. Feudal patriarchal and feudal morality fettered people's thought severely, and family concept is deeply ingrained. Three cardinal guides and the five constant virtues as specified in the feudal ethical code have always been dominant, which is doomed to the love tragedy of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. At the same time, the reserved and conservative Orientation which is feeling to be differently compared with western love is bold and unrestrained. Butterfly lovers are born in landlord class, and they deeply bandaged of Confucian thought, so their love is the most exciting place laying in its intense and temperate, angry but not rough, failure but still existing the hope of success. After they fall in love with each other, they share one bed and sleeping, but dare not do what has not been allowed to be done. And as a collective work, it is subordinated to the people of the feudal thoughts, and reflects the young men and women of advanced thoughts and contradiction between the backward social system and more works in the authenticity of the specific social background. Dominated by Confucianism of Chinese traditional culture, it advocates “harmony between the heaven and human” and pays attention to the doctrine of the mean sincerely. So, in the end, they became two butterflies, flying to wing and never parting. In the symbolism of the Butterfly lovers for the result, love tragedy is not to die for it.
