Death of a Salesman receives popularity after its publication so that many critics write articles, books to comment on the play from different aspects. Although someone has revealed the tragic destiny of the hero Willy Loman, this paper will continue to study Willy Loman’s fate and make a detailed analysis of the causes of his tragic fate on both social and personal flaws. This paper is made up of five parts. In the first part: there is the protagonist of the play and the research objective and significance of paper. The second part is a brief introduction to the author and the Death of a Salesman. Part Three is devoted to the introduction of Willy Loman’s failure in business and family relationship. In the fourth part: first, it focuses on the social factors that cause the tragic fate of Willy. Then, it analyses the personal elements that causes the tragic fate of Willy. Last, it analyses Willy’s tragic fate from American Dream. The last part is the conclusion of this paper. We hope this paper will help readers to have a better understanding of the play and Willy’s tragic fate.
