Title A Brief Analysis of the Influence of English Cyber-neologism on Chinese Language
Abstract
In order to adapt to the fast changing and developing society, English has been unceasingly changing and developing in the progress of application and development. As the popularization of Internet technology and personal computer, cyber languages jump into popularity and even have made inroads into daily life. Domestic studies about English cyber-neologism mainly concentrate on its definition, creation and development along with its semantic features and word formation. This paper, after an introduction to its definition, creation, development and characters, puts emphasis on the way English cyber-neologism influences Chinese.

1 Introduction
As the popularization of Internet technology and personal computer, cyber languages jump into popularity and even have made inroads into daily life. In that scenario, English cyber-neologism emerges as the times require, which is a mirror of the rapid development of science, economy, education as well as the society. According to the counting of the Barnhart Dictionary Companion Magazine, 1500-1600 new words are entering their computer database each year. Modern English has a vocabulary of 500,000 words, and 2/3 of them are created during the latest 300 years (Wang Rongpei, 1997). This paper begins with the definition of English cyber-neologism, formation, development, features and ends with its influence on Chinese language. Lastly, it is hoped that this paper will give everybody a better way to enrich the vocabulary and a good grasp of English cyber-neologism.
1.1 The Previous Study of English Cyber-Neologism
Internet has broke through the geographical, national, traditional and religious boundaries
and has made our passage into the global information age. And in this special time, a new language has been invented by the Internet itself, which forms the unique words and brings about a great number of new language phenomenons. English cyber-neologism, with its unique charm, has attracted a constantly increasing number of cyber citizens. As new concepts and new things unceasingly blossom, a new carrier and a fine development promote the development of English cyber-neologism. They are not created freely; they follow some rules and some processes of word–formation.
Not like other studies of lexicology right now, the study of English cyber-neologism is scanty, and some primary causes explain this kind of phenomenon. Firstly, the definition and scope are too vague to cordon off. Secondly, the collection of English cyber-neologism is also not very simple for the neologism is changing at every moment. Thirdly, there is none of the authority standard. As a result, only a few English cyber-neologisms have been collected in dictionaries. In spite of the difficulty and verboseness, the study of English cyber-neologism is extraordinarily significant. Besides, we could feel the changes of language and the culture behind the language. Therefore, we need to be more active to concern its formation, common characteristics and trends.
