Pupils are the principal part of teaching activities in primary schools. They should  participate in teaching activities actively. In this sense, no matter how strong their learning motivation is, students’ active participation is still the prerequisite for the implementation of various effective teaching strategies. The relationship between English learning motivation and learning is complementary. Learning can generate motivation, and motivation can promote learning. 

Primary school English teaching plays a significant role in the implementation of  English Curriculum Standards, and it can help students lay a good foundation for  learning English in the future. In China, the National English Curriculum Standards carried out in 2001 postulates that English should be 源Z自+吹冰=文-论(文+网[www.chuibin.com a required course in primary schools. With the carrying out of the New English Curriculum, lots of new problems arise from the field of English teaching in primary schools. In 2012, new English Curriculum Standards pointed out that the task is to stimulate and cultivate students’ interest in learning English in basic education stage. In this condition, teachers should make pupils establish self-confidence, develop good study habits and form effective learning strategies. 

What is more, teachers should also inspire students to develop autonomous learning ability and cooperation spirit. In the process of English learning in primary school, English learning motivation is an important factor that affects students’ learning behaviors and learning effects. The role of English learning motivation is important for pupils, because of the larger proportion of mechanical memory about learning content in the primary school. Based on above statements, teachers should pay more attention to the training of pupils’ intelligence development. At the same time, it is more important to fully understand the characteristics of pupils so that teachers could properly develop pupils’ English learning motivation. Therefore, the task of stimulating pupils’ English learning motivation is particularly crucial.
