2. Literature Review

Education is an activity that imparts knowledge or skill. When people in different country they may receive different education. Tang Caibin and Zhang Ying who wrote a book called A Closer Look At British Education give us a new view of British education. From their book, they collected the problems which domestic teachers interested in British education and then on the basis of these target problems to collect and analyze data. For Chinese education, Ye Lan analyzed the progress of the reform in Chinese education history. She wrote it in two aspects, subjective and objective ways. So, we can know it clearly that there is much differences in Chinese and British education.

2.1 The background of Chinese education system

China is a great country with long history and deep culture so does  its education. School education is considered to be the outcome of economic and social development. In order to promote the development of national education, the Chinese government and lots of people paid a great effort on this revolution which had obtained historic achievement. China has vast territory, large population but also has low level of economy; the development of the national education also faces many difficulties.

In the 21st century, the Chinese government put education on the strategic position of priority development. They also put forward the “relying on science and education”   strategy,

which deepen the reform of education system constantly and strengthen quality education. Besides, the government adheres to the popularization of the nine year compulsory education which contains primary school education.来.自>优:尔论`文/网www.chuibin.com

2.2 The background of British education system

Britain’s education also has a very long history. The western society went into chaos because of the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. Towns were destroyed. Economic system was disrupted. Legal system paralyzed and schools began to disappear. Because of this situation, as the only political and cultural carrier in the Western European society, the Christian Church can take full responsibility for saving and spreading the cultural  fire, guiding the direction for the new culture which initiated from suffering and struggling.

The education in primary school belongs to compulsory educations. British primary is generally pided into public schools and private schools, so does the Chinese primary school. Both of them have famous schools and people can’t judge them only by their education approach.
