     In order to understand the the contemporary status of English teaching in primary schools, we should firstly analyze the characteristics of English teaching in primary schools。 

 Firstly, Learning-by-doing Method is more suitable for children。 It aims at making students’ physical and mental development combine with the language of cognition level , letting them experience language in a rhythmic rap, and creating a relaxed environment with rhythmic singing。 To achieve that, they can learn English by doing, singing and performing。 Secondly, we promote practical activities and develop task-based teaching。 Recent studies show that teaching which is introduced in practical activities can develop students’ abilities of gathering information, applying knowledge, clearly expressing ideas, learning independently and regulating themselves in the learning process。 Then, we promote cooperative learning and cultivate the spirit of cooperation。 Students learn from each other and help each other to complete the task。 All students are able to experience the sense of honor and the sense of accomplishment, and it ensures that students can participate in learning proactively。 Last but not least, modern teaching methods help teachers’ improve teaching effects。 It not only provides a vast teaching resources for teachers, makes the teaching more interesting and three-dimensional, but also offers a multimedia way for students。 The purpose is that teachers can optimize the course structure and improve the teaching efficiency。
